The Sindh Home Minister Announces E-Challan System that will directly connect with vehicle registration records. Home Minister Zia ul Hassan Lanjar shared that e-challans will now be issued only to the registered owner of the vehicle.

New System for Traffic Fines

Under this new rule, traffic penalties will be charged only to the person whose name appears on the vehicle registration. This will help ensure accountability and reduce misuse.

Karachi Gets Full E-Challan Network

The minister revealed that every traffic signal in Karachi will soon be equipped with an e-challan system.

Cameras already installed at traffic signals will become fully functional within one month.
Around 12,000 cameras are planned to be installed across Karachi in the next 12–18 months.

Recently, on a single Tuesday, 2,600 challans were issued in Karachi. The minister noted that this number is still small for a city of Karachi’s size.

Key Features of the New E-Challan System

Registered-owner linkage: The challan will always be sent to the registered vehicle owner.
Motorcycles: Two types of challans will apply to bikes, both directed to the registered owner.
Post-sale rule: Keeping a vehicle registered in your name after selling it is now a legal offence.
Heavy vehicle tracking: Around 10,000 trailers and tankers are already connected to the system. If they exceed 30 km/h within city limits, they’ll automatically receive a challan.
Detection technology: The system can identify tampered or fancy number plates.
Driving licence training centres: New centres will open across Karachi to promote road safety and discipline.
