Big Announcement 2025: Pakistan to Introduce New Passport Design 

Pakistan to introduce new passport design that brings fresh visuals, updated security features, and digital readiness. The change is a major move by the government to modernize travel documents for Pakistani citizens and align them with global standards. DG Immigration & Passports (DGIP) has received approval from the Ministry of Interior to begin redesigning Pakistan’s passport.

The current passports have served Pakistan for many years. However, with increasing security threats, global travel standards, and citizens’ expectations, there is a strong push to upgrade. Major reasons include:

  • To improve security and prevent forgery and misuse. 
  • To include updated biometric / digital features such as chips and machine-readable data. 
  • To reflect Pakistan’s national heritage by adding imagery of landmarks from different provinces.
  • To align with international/document standards such as ICAO guidelines.
